Having the proper roof ventilation is very important!

The other day we went to a home that had a fairly new roof (5) years old.  The customer was complaining about leaks.  We went up to take a look and found that there was no roof ventilation.  Moisture had seeped into the plywood and underlayment.  When we took the shingles off in the problem areas, this is what we found (see pictures below).  The customer did not have any ridge vent, soffit or gable vents.  The moisture had damaged the plywood.  We always suggest that you have the proper roof ventilation before we install any roof.  What we suggested to the customer is to install DCI Smart Vent in his attic so his roof will not have further damage.  The cost so far of the damage is $1,000.00, plus whatever the cost of the Smart Vent.  Homeowners need to have proper roof ventilation if they want their roof to last.  As you can see in the picture with the nail is rusted from moisture in the plywood.  Give us a call today 443-314-8950.  We will sell you a roof that will last with the proper materials.
